Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Umrah Index collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to umrahindex.com.

Who is responsible for your data

Umrah Index is published by Noureddine Bachoud, based in Agadir, Morocco. For any question about this policy or about your data, contact hello@umrahindex.com.

We are the data controller for the personal data described below. Because we offer content to visitors in the European Union and the United Kingdom, we treat the EU GDPR and UK GDPR as applying to us regardless of where we are established.

What we collect

DataWhyLegal basis
Server logs — IP address, browser, pages requested, timestampsSecurity, abuse prevention and diagnosing faultsLegitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure
Analytics — pages viewed, approximate location, device, referring siteUnderstanding which articles are useful so we know what to write and updateYour consent, given through the cookie banner
Affiliate tracking — a cookie or identifier set when you follow a link to a booking or service providerSo the provider can attribute a booking to us and pay a commissionYour consent, given through the cookie banner
Email address — only if you write to us, or subscribe to a mailing listReplying to you, or sending what you asked forYour request, or your consent for a mailing list

We do not ask for, and have no use for, sensitive personal data. We do not require an account. We do not run advertising networks. We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we never will.

Cookies and consent

Non-essential cookies — analytics and affiliate tracking — are blocked until you consent. You can accept or reject them from the banner, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. You can change your choice at any time from the link in the banner or on our cookie policy page.

Essential cookies needed for the site to function, and to remember your consent choice, are set without consent because the site cannot work without them.

We use Google Consent Mode so that analytics behaviour matches the choice you make.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of third parties. Each processes data on our behalf or as an independent controller for their own service:

  • Our hosting provider — stores the website, its database and server logs.
  • Google — Google Analytics and Google Search Console, for audience measurement and search performance. Subject to your consent for analytics.
  • Affiliate partners — when you follow an outbound link to a booking, insurance, connectivity or visa provider, that provider sets its own cookies and processes your data under its privacy policy, not ours. We link only to established providers, but we do not control what they do. Read their policies if that matters to you.
  • Email provider — if you subscribe to a mailing list, your address is stored with our email service so we can send it.

International transfers

Umrah Index is operated from Morocco, and some of the services above are based in the United States. This means your data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. Where we rely on a provider such as Google, transfers are covered by that provider’s own safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.

How long we keep things

  • Server logs — typically a few weeks, then overwritten by our host.
  • Analytics — retained according to our Google Analytics retention setting, and in aggregated form after that.
  • Consent records — kept as proof of consent for as long as required, then deleted.
  • Emails you send us — kept while the correspondence is useful, then deleted.
  • Mailing list — until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any email we send.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK — and we extend the same to everyone else — you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct it if it is wrong
  • Delete it
  • Restrict or object to how we use it, including objecting to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Receive a copy in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it
  • Complain to a supervisory authority in your country if you think we have got this wrong

Email hello@umrahindex.com and we will respond within one month. We will not charge you and we will not make it difficult.

Children

This site is intended for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Administrative access is protected by strong credentials and two-factor authentication. No system is perfect; if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will act on it and notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date below. Because the services a site like this uses change over time — a new analytics tool, a new affiliate partner — it is worth checking back if the details matter to you.

This policy describes our actual setup honestly and in plain language. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a lawyer’s review if your circumstances demand one. If you spot something here that does not match what the site actually does, please tell us — that is a bug and we want to fix it.
